Job Title: Behavior Support Specialist
Contract Days: 200 days
FLSA: Exempt
The Specialist is directly supervised and evaluated by the Director of Student Support Services.
Qualifications of Employment
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Special Education, Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis or related field;
- Successful completion of internship and/or formal training in the analysis of behavior and instructional strategies training related to working with clients who have pervasive developmental disorders and related disorders, their parents, and other agencies working with client
- Excellent time management, planning, and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Resilience and a positive attitude.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to apply instructional strategies on differentiation
- Strong organizational skills
- Increasing levels of targeted support for those who are struggling
- Integrated plans that address students’ academic, behavioral, social and emotional needs
- Knowledge of evidence based strategies
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist building level behavioral teams in defining and measuring behavior for implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans.
- Confer with the supervisor to help create, manage, and monitor assigned behavioral cases and coach/support relevant team members.
- Provide effective consultation to school team members on the implementation of behavioral strategies to support classrooms and students.
- Assist in leading professional development that will teach strategies to teachers that will aid them in the classroom with disruptive behaviors .
- Provide prudent and appropriate responses to behavioral crises.
- SEL curriculum implementation and support.
- De-escalation and restraint program oversight, implementation, and support.
- Other duties as assigned.
