Job Title: School Based Health Center Coordinator

Contract Days:  240 Days

 

Purpose:

The School Based Health Center (SBHC) Coordinator works closely with the Director of Student Services, ARCare Staff, and school administrators to ensure operation procedures are established and maintained. The SBHC Coordinator provides administrative and clerical support for the School Based Health Center. The coordinator will oversee the daily operations of the center and other functions of the center.

  • Knowledge of the community and school’s population culture.

  • Ability to be a self-starter, quick learner, prioritize effectively, organize workload, meet deadlines, be flexible, pay attention to detail, work independently and function effectively as part of a team.
  • Experience with recording and organizing meetings and schedules.
  • Strong level of confidentiality due to the sensitivity of materials and information handled.
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in a relevant field (Education, Nursing, Social Work, Healthcare, Business, Communications, Marketing, etc.)
  • Preferred: Experience in administration, the medical field, and/or leading a program/team.

 

Essential Duties/ Responsibilities:

  • Be committed to the mission of the RSD School Based Health Center.
  • Coordinating the day to day activities to ensure SBHC operations are performing as expected.
  • Coordinate with healthcare partners to create staff scheduling to ensure SBHC services are available during posted hours of operation.
  • Data analysis to support SBHC, maintains data to support goals and objectives.
  • Advocate student needs related to health issues, infrastructure, and programs.
  • Monitors enrollment, insurance information, physician visits, and  assessments  for all students.
  • Provides assistance to SBHC administrators, school administrators, and SBHC staff  to implement and improve center services.
  • Maintain a functional relationship with the schools, parents, and  school based health center staff.
  • Continuously review funding resources (e.g. foundation funding sources, grant opportunities community sponsorships, etc) that will support and expand clinic operations.
  • Assist with and participate in activities to support health promotion in the classroom including peer education programs, campaigns, and other events.
  • Participate in activities to support SBHC enrollment, such as new student orientation, welcome back events, Back to School Night, Open House, etc.    
  • Coordinate services to support other projects correlated with the SBHC’s goals.
  • Initial outreach to parents/student upon enrollment, welcome, demographics, and insurance verification.
  • Monitor clinic supply inventory system to ensure SBHC’s has necessary supplies.
  • Behave in a professional manner and consistently demonstrate and promote the values of respect, honesty, and dignity for the patient, families, and all members of the healthcare team.

  • Maintain confidentiality and protect the Practice by abiding by laws and principles related to confidentiality; keep information concerning Practice Operations, patients and employees confidential.
  • This position requires background check and fingerprinting as outlined by theDepartment of Education.

Work Environment: 

 

  • Work is performed in a busy medical office environment with many interruptions. Very active, fast paced position with short deadlines.
  • Travel between school buildings or within the community to promote and/or support the SBHC may be required.
