Qualifications:

Standard Arkansas Teacher's License in grades 4-8 or 7-12 science
Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university
Minimum of 3 years of successful teaching experience
Instructional Facilitator endorsement preferred but not required
Master's in content area preferred but not require
RSD will have a Science PD coach for grades 6-12. This is a 200 day contract.

The instructional coach will be evaluated by the Director of Secondary Instruction. To perform this job successfully, an individual needs to perform all duties satisfactorily.

 

Essential Duties :

Give job embedded, continuous PD through coaching, observation, and planning with teachers of these content areas, grades 6-12 (around 60 teachers)
Collaborates in planning lessons with classroom teachers of that content area
Model lessons
Team teaching
Collaborates with teachers in their classroom environment to provide feedback in order to improve teaching and learning, focusing on the effective lesson element

Provide PD and support to all PLTW teachers 5-12, help troubleshoot and find answers to problems
Help science teachers 5-12 with material organization, sorting, purchasing for the 80% hands on lab requirement in the new standards
Support the new teachers with additional coaching, job embedded PD
Leading professional development individually, small group and whole group, at both the school and district level
Observation and collaboration with all their content teachers, based on the partnership approach from Jim Knight's "Instructional Coaching " book
Use technology to give immediate feedback to teachers after observation
Schedule brief discussions with teachers to work together for teacher growth in teaching and instruction
Help teachers unwrap state standards, develop instructional strategies, and plan lessons
Meeting with all content teachers during their common prep times to facilitate productive collaboration over lessons, unit plans, assessments, instructional strategies
Helping teachers create authentic assessments that assess transfer of skills
Giving detailed and timely feedback on lesson plans, instructional strategies, unit plans and assessments
Provide feedback on unit assessments for each secondary content course
Meet with teachers individually to work on their PGP's and give authentic feedback, in a non -evaluative role, as job embedded PD
Meet with Director of Secondary Instruction weekly to review assessments, lessons, units, curriculum, instructional strategies, differentiation , more structured PD for teachers
Coordinate and help lead vertical alignment professional development for grades 6-12
Update an online calendar so teachers and admin know what they are doing to provide job embedded PD for teachers at all times.
Lead data analysis and next steps with teachers, using their interim assessments and RTI data
Help facilitate the PD days during the school year, with content level PLCs
Demonstrate moral and ethical judgement
Maintain required Personnel Activity report or Semi Annual Time Certifications if applicable for funding
Other duties as assigned
